Overview

Overview (Ages 13-14)

The Junion and Senior Divisions are made up of our community's older youth players.

The Junior and Senior programs offer players the opportunity to continue developing basic and advanced fundamentals of baseball in a supportive, positive, and encouraging environment while preparing them for early high school competition.

This league will be a continuation of Little League District 1 in Minnesota.

Season Information


DAYS Monday through Thursday (Possible Friday or Sunday evening games)
TIME: TBD
DATES: April 30 – July 30

Junior teams can expect to practice and/or play up to 4-5 times per week.

The teams at the Junior League level will play against other western suburb teams.

In the case of inclement weather, the league will continue as of the date listed on the schedule. The league may choose to make up games during the week of July 9-13 if there are a higher than normal number of cancelled games during the season.

Age Requirements: 13 as of April 30, 2012.

Team Formation
  
Teams will be comprised of 11-12 players.

Teams will be formed no later than two weeks before the start of the season using evaluations and coaches draft to create parity among teams.

Game Play

Players will be continuing to develop fundamental baseball skills. Focus will be on training the kids to prepare for high school baseball.

Games will be on a regulation baseball field. 90’ bases and 60’6” pitching mound.

Season will have an 18-game schedule and postseason tournament.

Hamel will then have one All-Star team at Junior level and one at Senior level. The All Star team will compete against other district 1 teams for the right to go to MN State tournament and possible National tournament.

Games will follow Little League Rules for Junior and Senior Leagues. www.littleleague.org


PLEASE NOTE:
Parents and spectators who aren’t on the field coaching are encouraged to celebrate success on both teams and are to refrain from “directional coaching” (i.e. giving direction to their kids) from the sidelines during the games and practices. Players, spectators and coaches are expected to adhere to the code of conduct policies.


Equipment

At the Junior League level, Hamel Baseball provides:

  • Baseballs
  • Catcher’s Gear
  • Team Jersey (to be returned after the season)
  • Team Cap

Players are required to supply their own:

  • Helmets (royal blue preferred)
  • Glove
  • Baseball bat(s)
  • Baseball pants (gray preferred)
  • Athletic supporter and protective cup
  • Baseball shoes
  • Baseball socks and belt (Royal Blue)
